Inspiring a Love of Reading with ‘Read for Good’

We were delighted to recently receive a generous delivery of books covering a wide range of genres from the charity Read for Good. The arrival of these books brought a sense of excitement and curiosity, as students were given the opportunity to explore a rich and diverse selection of reading material.

Read for Good is a UK-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people through the power of reading. They believe that reading for pleasure has a lasting impact on literacy, confidence, and imagination, and they work to ensure that all children have access to engaging, high-quality books. Through their various programmes and book donations, they help to foster a lifelong love of reading in schools and communities across the country.

This initiative aligns closely with our own commitment to encourage reading for pleasure. We are passionate about nurturing a culture where students read not only for learning, but also for enjoyment, relaxation, and personal growth. Having access to a wide variety of books is an important part of this journey, allowing young people to discover new authors, genres, and stories that spark their imagination.

Following the delivery, students were given time to browse through the collection. It was wonderful to see them taking their time, leafing through pages, reading blurbs, and discussing their choices with peers and staff. There was a real sense of engagement as students carefully selected a book to take home, many choosing titles they might not have picked up before, which is exactly the kind of discovery we hope to encourage.

We are incredibly grateful to Read for Good for their support and generosity. Opportunities like this play a vital role in helping us continue to foster a love of reading and to reinforce the idea that reading is not just an academic skill, but a lifelong pleasure.
