🌟 SEND Support at Rivers ESC

At Rivers ESC, all students receive SEND support to help them achieve their academic potential whilst supporting their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are committed to identifying barriers to learning early and providing the appropriate support for every young person.

🔍 How does the centre know if students need extra help?

We use a range of assessments, observations and monitoring systems to identify when additional support may be needed.

• Information provided by the referring school.
• Baseline literacy and numeracy assessments.
• Assessments of social, emotional, cognitive and memory skills.
• Screening to identify the probability of dyslexia.
• Subject teacher observations and feedback.
• Daily staff briefings held twice each day to review students' progress and wellbeing.
• Tracking information from termly reports and Year 10 and Year 11 progress reports to identify any underachievement.

This information helps us build a clear understanding of each student's needs and ensures that appropriate support is put in place.
