Celebrating National Poetry Day: Blackout Poetry Competition

To celebrate National Poetry Day on 1st October, our students got creative by taking part in a blackout poetry competition. Inspired by the theme of Wonder, they transformed existing texts into unique poems.

Blackout poetry is a wonderful way to combine poetry and art. Students take a piece of text and carefully select individual words to create a brand-new poem, blacking out the remaining words. The challenge encourages creativity, imagination and careful consideration of language, while allowing students to express their own ideas in a unique and visual way. Thank you so much to our wonderful students and support staff for celebrating with us!

We were delighted by the creativity and thought that went into the entries, with students producing work that showcased both their artistic flair and their poetic talent.
