Rivers Education Support Centre exists to support children in East Herts and Broxbourne who are experiencing difficulties in mainstream school because of their social, emotional and mental health difficulties. A team of outreach staff work in primary and secondary schools throughout the area with children who are at risk of permanent exclusion.
There is provision for 16 children at the Key Stage 3 centre in Hertford. At Key Stage 3, children who have been excluded are supported to reintegrate to mainstream school. Sometimes statutory assessment is requested to identify appropriate provision.
The Key Stage 4 centre in Hoddesdon provides education for year 10 and 11 pupils. Some pupils are supported to reintegrate into mainstream school and others complete a wide range of qualifications at the centre.
