  • Little Rivers – Half Term Update

    This half term, Little Rivers has been busy with a wide range of exciting activities and learning opportunities across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

    English

    Key Stage 1 have been studying "Paddington's Post", exploring the postal service, sending letters and postcards, and writing invitations.

    Key Stage 2 have been reading "The Boy Who Grew Dragons", producing dragon fact files, character descriptions, and imaginative settings.

    Mathematics

    Both key stages have been focusing on place value:

    • Key Stage 1 used place value in addition and subtraction.
    • Key Stage 2 used place value to support addition.

    Science

    Pupils studied life cycles and had the opportunity to care for caterpillars, observing their transformation into chrysalides before releasing butterflies into the forest school.

    Art

    Students explored the work of Salvador Dalí, creating clay "wobbly clocks" and engaging with surrealist art techniques.

    Cooking

    Pupils enjoyed preparing a variety of savoury and sweet dishes, from baking bread to making special fried rice.

    Trips & Experiences

    Children participated in memorable outings, including:

    • A visit to a trampoline park
    • A trip to Hertfordshire Zoo, including a talk on sun bears
    • Meeting the bears and seeing a 120kg green python named Optimus Prime
