Rivers ESC had a record breaking 12 students attend, complete and pass their Duke of Edinburgh expedition this year. The students navigated on the first day from the centre in Hoddesdon along an 10 mile route around the Harcamlow Way and Roydon. The students carried their own supplies and navigation equipment encountering different wildlife and rights of way. The students completed a second day around the Standon Lordship and surrounding villages taking the countryside and spectacular views from the hillside. The students completed 8 miles the second day and were rewarded with the finest delicacies on offer from Standon bakery as a reward.
The trips took place over two weeks; 26th – 27th April for the first group and 4th-5th May for the second group. There were 6 students in each group at a time, with exemplary behaviour and attitude despite the long and arduous walking conditions! Well done to all that took part and for making this year the most successful D of E year ever!
